Dumplings

We provided playdough to our Outdoor Kitchen area with sand, dirt , sticks, leaves! All these ingredients make for a wondrous play experience, how often do you add dough outside? Do you fear children mixing it with other ingredients such as soil? Are your fears restricting their play?

Add in some imagination and a authentic resources and the play transcends into a magical moments, remove the restrictions, the limitations and let the children lead their play and learning.

Here a child used the dough, moulded it into a pancake shape and started making dumplings! It was amazing to observe, the conversation flowed making links from home in her play, she shared her skills with others and led the play. It was an absolutely MAGICAL moment that would have been missed IF she wasn't encouraged to mix resources together.
