Loose parts and recycled materials
When you embark on The Curiosity Approach Accreditation or are just inspired by our approach, you swap plastic commercialised toys for these intelligent resources. Recycled materials and authentic items.
Loose parts can be synthetic or natural, this can be stuff we’ve collected or items we have had donated.
Items from nature or treasures from a scrap store.
They can be as big as drainpipes, guttering or tyres or as small as acorns and corks. A child's imagination will find a purpose for them all.
“Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.” Fred Rogers
Through play, children use these Items in a multitude of ways, depending on the interests, urges and ideas of the children.
Here Amanda, a childminder @cheek_yrascalz, demonstrates how children don’t need electronic gadgets and plastic toys. They don’t need plastic mountains of toys that beep, flash, move or entertain children.
No batteries required just add imagination, creativity and that innate curiosity and desire to learn more.
